Hello

Just seen the advert in Steam Beano (Railway) and decided to give the forum a try. I've been a volunteer on the Bluebell Railway working on the extension to East Grinstead since 1988. When my sons were young I volunteered on average fortnightly but in recent years I have worked on the project almost weekly and act as co-ordinator of the activities of the team that works on Saturdays. I have no civil engineering background just a desire to see the project finally reach East Grinstead. What I have done over the years is learn new skills including fencing maintenance/replacement, lineside clearance (certified chainsaw operator), JCB operator, track layer ............. So if anyone is interested don't be shy to volunteer on your local heritage railway (especially if its the Bluebell). You will receive a warm welcome in whichever area you want to work.

Regards,

Nigel

Welcome to both Nigels, we hope you enjoy the site and feel free to contribute where-ever you fancy. We're just getting things going, any suggestions are welcome.

I had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch on the Bluebell line a few years ago, one of the best run operations around (top nosh and good wine as well).. well done.
