Trains at standstill after crash (BBC News)

Trains on a major route are at a standstill after a car got onto the tracks and was struck in Cheshire.

More from BBC News...

Good that no one was seriously hurt but I wouldn't like to pay that persons next insurance premium.
I wonder what the police could charge him/her with - parking out of the box perhaps ??

This incident received very little coverage in the national press but it could quite easily have been another Great Heck disaster where 10 people lost their lives. Fortunately, in this case, the derailed train was deflected away from the other running line.
As Tony says, it will be interesting to see what action the police take.

It just shows what part luck plays in these things. The difference between this and the consequences of an incident like Great Heck can be very narrow indeed.
