We at Thornaby were told that 26 out of the 48 drivers jobs were at risk, and lots of other depots were in the same predicament. We were also told that Healey Mills and Aberdeen were going to close as regards drivers depots, but I don't know about yards as such.

It wouldn't surprise me if Healey Mills yard was actually closed though. There isn't even any permanent groundstaff there now as they are all mobile.

healey mills, started my intrest in trains there in the late 70,s rows and rows of freight,locos,etc....you could park your car in the massive car park,no one
around ,stand on the mound near the water tower and fill your book!
once i went on new years day in the 80,s..must of been 30 locos end to end!!!31,45,47,56.s.near to the two running lines, and sheds all clicking awaiting there next duty.....went just before xmas,no yard lights on,no locos,
nowt, odd ....last one to leave ,turn off ,and lock up?
closeing cos of the credit crunch...
spot the freight train.....it might be the last one you see?
shame.
