I'm afraid the whole thing galls me to the Nth degree. It's bad enough getting rid of UK jobs in this way, but the fact that the person to whom you're speaking to lives on the other side of the planet severely limits any local knowledge info; last year I had recourse to contact one such call centre, and after about 5 minutes, had to apologise and hang up. I honestly couldn't understand a SINGLE word that was said to me, and I'm sure that worked both ways. A friend recently arranged a computer (on a limited offer) to be delivered to his home in Sandown, Isle of Wight; it was advertised as free delivery, but he was concerned that a large charge might be incurred for transportation across the Solent. He asked the Indian lady if it would still be free delivery, since he lived on the Isle of Wight. "They are also in other colours" she said, helpfully, "but it won't be a problem to get white."
I rest my case, m'lud.
