Class 50 Haulage
Does anybody know whether pairs of Class 50s visited Manchester Piccadilly during the time they were allocated to Crewe Diesel Depot?
Also, did any members drag Electric locos between Manchester Piccadilly & Crewe or Stoke on Trent to Crewe?

I do not think that pairs of 50's were used on the Manchester to Scotland trains. I think that it was mainly the principle London Glasgow trains that were booked to be double headed. Poor availability of the locos was also a problem in their early days
I have not seen any photos of 50's dragging electric locos, but I will look through some of my books Last edited by markb846; 5th June 2009 at 23:09. |

I had a look in the Class 50 in Operation, and there is a picture taken in 1975 of 50036 hauling a diverted Liverpool to Euston train via Chester with 86006 in the consist. So it did happen.
An issue with the class 50's was always drivers route, and traction knowledge, compaired with the more universal class 47 |
