Hmmm! Doncaster was wonderful in steam days but like many previously wonderful stations I feel it has lost much of its magic. However, I maybe slightly prejudiced having spent many winter hours there killing time (late afternoon/early evening) waiting for late running trains or for the next one after one that has been cancelled with not a lot to do or observe.

All Doncaster station meant to me was a lot of shovelling before I got back to Kings Cross.

Down Stoke Bank & Potters Bar to Kings Cross was downhill John.
Potters Bar to Kings Cross was where we had a wash using the bucket.
