EWS Deltic?

Hi All

Not being a spotter or train buff - i swear i saw a deltic as the second loco hauling some frieght at watford - are these beasts still in use today?

As garrat has said more than likley to be a class 37.

Another possible explanation is that, rather than hauling a freight, it was being hauled as part of a freight to an exhibition or heritage line somewhere.

55022 is mainline certified but only used at the East Lancs for now as it is on one engine at the moment. I can imagine what you saw, like others say, a 37 being tripped to or from Eastleigh.

If you saw it going north around 7pm on Monday 20th, then it would have been 37422 hitching a lift to Bescot behind 66110 on an engineers train from Wembley.
