Todays mid cheshire diesel special.

At about 16:58 today, at Hale station at train full of passengers came through with a selection of mark 1 & 2 coach stock with a class 60 at either end.
This was not advertised and no other enthusiasts were there.
I was just doing a bit of ordinary train spotting as you do when I got this nice surprise.
Could anyone tell me what train it was?
Had it been diverted?

What you saw was THE PEAK FOREST RANGER, a railtour run by UK Railtours. Started at Watford Jct. then routed via Finsbury Park, Retford, Sheffield, the Hope Valley line, Great Rocks, Buxton. Reverses here then; Great Rocks, Chinley, Altrincham, Crewe to Watford Jct.
That's the route given in the railtours list in this weeks Railway Herald.
Cheers, 62440.

If you want to know whats going on Railway wise sign up for this FREE weekly online newspaper. I get an e-mail every Sunday evening to tell me that the new issue is online, and it's well worth a read.

I agree. I always look forward to reading this each week, and it saves me buying the printed magazines. Maybe I shouldn't say that though, as design for print is my job.....
