Handforth station sign
Am I correct in saying it still has a BR London Midland Region station sign outside it?
If it does it could be quite valuable: "BR London Midland Region maroon “totem” name signs from Hale and Knutsford stations fetched the amazingly high prices of £2,100 and £2,800 respectively at the Stafford Railwayana Auction on 3rd May 2008." |

Handforth has quite a collection of station signs of different designs, i dont know wether any are originals.
http://www.handforthstation.org.uk/c...ls.php?album=8: has photos of one or two of the signs. Amongst others not featured on there is a Docklands Light Railway one.

I have had a word with my son who lives around Manchester. He thinks the signs are genuine are cared for by the friends. Quite a few stations in the manchester area have friends hetold me.

I think this was a community project that took place a few years ago, everyone in and around the area got together to re-create Handforth with all these interesting signs. I think there is also a London Underground 'Handforth' sign on the Wilmslow bound platform too. Looks great.

More recently I noticed the Warwick Rd (the station where the Old Trafford tram stop is now) sign on land on the Stockport-Wilmslow line.

I like handforth, I spend quite a lot of time there. There are nice wooden sculptures on the platforms.
