Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking around here for a while and thought that it was about time to introduce myself. I live in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada and in 2007 and 2009 visited the U.K. for vacations. My first real visits since emigrating in 1973!! On both occassions, I visited the North Yorks Moors Railway and managed to be there for the Steam Gala Days (by accident in 2007 and on purpose in 2009). I used to live in Bradford, Yorkshire and would go train spotting with my friend Stuart usually to Leeds, but a couple of times to York. (I still remember seeing Mallard at the head of a train in Leeds station.) We both had model railway sets, mine being one of the original Rovex sets from the 50's with the Princess Elizabeth locomotive. Since my trip to Goathland last year, I have decided to get back into model railways and I am present tackling the outragous task of modelling Goathland Station!! Here at work in Peterborough, my window looks out to the local railway tracks and I see a lot of diesel traffic, usually grains going to the local Quaker Oats factory, or big electric motors being shipped from the GE factory acroos the road. I must say though that my interest is in the U.K. steam era. I wonder if there are any members who live near the NYMR in case I need some more photographs or dimensions??? Bye now, Keith W |

Hello Keith and welcome to the Railway Forum. I emigrated to the UK in 1969 from Rhodesia. Train spotting was never a pass time in Africa like it was and still is in the UK. Can't help with the photographs or dimensions as I am in Bristol.
