Stobart Rail
I was delighted to see that Eddie Stobart has finally got his wagons and trucks, in the right place, on the rails. As a 'soon to retire' courier driver. The biggest annoyance, by far, that I have to suffer, if the number of trucks on the road. Many's the time, in a town, a truck at the head of the queue at the lights, has barely got into 2nd gear, before the lights change again.
I just wish the supermarkets would follow suit. It would make such a difference to the roads. I drive from London to Scotland, about 3 times a year, Simply because it it cheaper to drive than go by train. (My van uses LPG at an avge. of 64p a litre) I recently had to drive from London to York, with one packet (200 sheets) of printing paper that got left off the normal delivery. |

Hopefully the supermarkets are beginning to believe that the way foreward is to use rail. I understand that some trains from and to main supermarket distribution points are already running, and there's a lot of talk on the Teesside area that the two big warehouses that have recently been built at Teesport by ASDA and TESCO will use rail transport as their mainstay, and as far as I'm aware, Stobarts are going to be their main provider.
