Does anyone have access to, know of, or can give directions to, a plan of the station prior to its being rebuilt in its present form ?

I've got a plan much prior to it being rebuilt - it's in GER days. Are you interested?

Liverpool Street Station.

There are two books which should be available through Public Libraries.
"Liverpool Street Station", Thorne, Academy Publications.
"Liverpool Street Station .........", Nick Derbyshire, Granta Publications.
The former is quite old, the latter fairly recent.
For pix I found a source through Google, on I think page 5 or 6, when searching "Liverpool Strret Station" under NRM/Science and Society.
Another source is "http://collage.cityoflondon.gov.uk" then "Places", "L", Liverpool Street Station.

The old Rhodesian Railways once had 2 records. The Bulawayo stations main platform was the longest in the world, until Cairo beat it (see photo in gallery). It is still the 2nd longest. The second record is the turntable at the Bulawayo shads is over 90 ft long. I have not heard of one to beat it as yet.

Alan,
The longest platform in the U.K. was Platform 11 between Manchester Victoria and Manchester Exchange stations. It was 2194 feet long. Manchester Exchange closed in the 60's and is now a car park. Manchester Victoria survives but on a much smaller scale.
It is mentioned in some of the links from this thread.
