Exclamation high speed 1 - high speed traffic jam

people must have considered by now that with all the class 395s and class 373s (eurostars) running high speed, HS1 must be being worked quite hard as it is, but how is it going to cope with the DB ICEs and new Eurostar 320 trains which have recently been proposed, on top of the possible introduction of freight onto the line. surely the line will be worked beyond its limits. what are your thoughts?

My initial thought would be that it's not working anywhere near its capacity.

This is true. The SouthEastern Javelin service was introduced principally due to the embarrasing number of spare pathways that weren't taken up by international trains. HS1 wasn't built for domestic services, but with all the spare capacity it makes sense to generate revenue from whatever source they can.

What is the capacity of HS1 ? How many paths per hour ?

I think currently Eurostar use 2 or 3 and Javelins use 4 off peak ?

I'm not sure that's true - why make connections at Ebbsfleet and Ashford International stations if there was never any intent to have a high speed domestic service?

I don't understand your logic.

Railway lines work best with stations. They're there so that people in the South East don't have to travel too far in the opposite direction from the continent to begin their journey.
