Beverley workings
Howdy everyone, im up this late with good reasons, firstly a little heart burn , but the main reason is every 5 or 10 minutes a 'digger'(JCB) is going past my house on the railway lines with a small wagon in tow, now ive seen things like this before and know the carry ballast and things of that nature, just a small piece of equipment. what im trying to find out is does anyone on here know what they are doing?
Id go and ask but its a bit cold out and thought id try the net first. Its the stretch between norwood level crossings and the beverley station, i guess. any help appreciated. |

There may be renewal work planned for the area and the Road Railer and trailer may be placing materials in preparation for it.
Or it may be for normal maintenance of the line. I take it by Norwood you mean either Beverley North crossing on Norwood / Hull bridge rd or Cherry Tree crossing next back towards the station. The tracks North of Beverley have both been renewed in the last 6 years so any renewal would be between there and Beverley Station LC. I know as I was there. |

The norwood crossing I speak of is indeed the one on Norwood/hull bridge road.
Sounds like you have a jolly good job, was always watching the engineers trains going past my garden, normally with a camera in hand O.o I also remember when the Norwood crossings were relayed. wonder if that has something to do with it. Will try get some photos/videos. |

Took the money and ran about 10 months before Jarvis went belly up. Best move I made. Now I go and work on the NYMR when I feel like it. |

What you saw was probably a "Possession Only Vehicle" like the one in the photo. They are normally Road/Rail which makes them very useful bits of kit. This is a Kamatso and has a large or small bucket, a flail attachment and the sleeper laying device in the photo. It can also be used for lifting about 1 ton. This one will lift a 60' length of rail which weighs about 1 ton.
The other photo shows it being used to clear snow as a road vehicle! The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is used to test vehicles like this so we see alsorts! Best wishes, John H-T.
