Bittern & dust - two words which mean a lot to so many people. It would be wrong to try and make any jokes at this time so I will leave that to headline writers. What a way to go though on the footplate of a wonderful loco doing what he loves best. From what I read of him this would have tickled his sense of humour. God bless.

I have often thought many steam fans would like to be cremated in the firebox of their
favorite engine. I am sure he would like to go in Bittern for the final trip ---I know the health and safety people would not allow it

With All due respect, he went doing a thing he was so obviously good at, as well as Loved doing. Even though I never met him, RIP Paul, and Thank You for giving Millions, so much enjoyment in life from Your work.
From what I have already read, you Will be sadly missed.
