Hi guys
I’m still scanning my pictures and have found some from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway trouble is I don’t have any dates of when we went
BUT
there is a picture of a Western (D1049 western Monarch) there that according to WNXX was scrapped at Crewe 1962
Can anyone help with

Sometimes, preserved locos run with the nameplates of a long deceased classmate.

Just to confuse you.

D1048 WESTERN LADY was there in 1980 (I remember seeing it), and the 1980 edition of "Railways Restored" has a note that D1041 WESTERN PRINCE was due there during the year.

I could be wrong but I believe D1049 was built in 1962 and not withdrawn till 1976 scrapped in 1977

got some info from Google group Rail-photos

Western Lady was re-painted as D1049 in October 1978 and work a rail tour in 1979 as such before being sold in 1980 and moving late in the year

My mum has also remembered that someone said to be careful of the paint as it was still wet !!!!!
so we were apparently there in October 1979
