Hello
Hi all,
I'm Sam Bentley, married to Rich Bentley of Mid-Hants and the Old Kiln Light Railway. I'm currently working on my diesel loco. Hudson Hunslet 1944 'Sam', giving her a complete overhaul and am looking for any info anyone might like to share. She was built in 1939 at the Ashford works in Kent, and has her original 20hp Ailsa Craig engine. Up until C1970 she worked at the steel rolling mill in Enfield, but I don't know when she went there, or whether she went anywhere else prior to this. In C1970 she worked for the Basingstoke Canal Society, for removing spoil from the canal. If antone has any info I would be very grateful, from engine info to photos to the type of plates she may have had. Thanks for reading, I really hope someone out there knows something! Hi Sam. Welcome indeed. I'm sure you'll find someone in here with helpful knowledge for you, no matter what the topic! It's a real friendly place this one, or certainly that's my impression as a newbie myself!

Hello Sam and welcome to the Railway Forum. There are two photos of Hudson Hunslets at the web site below. They are Hudson Hunslet 3097 & HE8969. They are about half way down the page.

Hello all,
Just to let you know that the restoration is more or less complete and she will be running for the first time on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May at the Old Kiln Light Railway within the Rural Life Centre, Tilford, for the Village at War weekend. Hope the paint dries in time! |
