Engine fire at Berlin Ostbahnhof

26 july 2011 a fire started in a 114.009-4 (class 114 electric engine) at Berlin-Ostbahnhof.
All platforms were evacuated by the Bundespolizei while the fire, that spread to the first car in the train, was extinguished by a crew of 100 firemen.
The cause of the fire is not yet clear. The train was moved from the station by two class 218 diesels.
The engine was completly burned out and the first car inte the train was damaged by the fire. The overhead power lines was so damaged that a quick repair was not possible.

No passengers were injured and the train driver escaped unharmed, but chocked.
The Emergency management of Deutsche Bahn was criticized because the power was cut 37 minutes after the alarm.

(The policeman in the beginning shouts to people to evacuate the platform and in the speakers they are shouting "Please all: Evacuate platforms, please evacuate, evacuate platforms" after that another policeman shouts "Evacuate platforms!" but the jcameraman seems to "not hear" it)

I will take bets that the Germans don't take 20 years to get rid of the soot from the station roof!

Glad to hear no one was hurt. No panic with the fire crew either as they calmly prepaired the equipment ready to put the fire out! Be interesting to hear how it was caused?

There is a lot that can burn in a electric obviously.
