Any of the four Nottingham, Derby, Chesterfield or Sheffield are good for EMT, Cross Country and Northern
Sheffield get the Manchester Airport Trans Pennine services You will Get Freight through Nottingham and Derby as well as Chesterfield but not Sheffield I'm not sure about Nottingham but I know that Chesterfield and Derby get Freightliner Hope that helps but if I can I will try to answer others but I only rarely go to Nottingham

Nottingham Derby Chesterfield
Hi
I used to visit Nottingham every week when I was working, and I always spent sometime at the station. Local passenger is very good and every hour you have a change of London trains. Freight was always very rare, with the old oil train. I always found it better at Derby and in particular Chesterfield was always a good place to have an odd hour. |

Quote:
Chesterfield is best in the afternoon for freight right up to 8pm EMT/XC/Northern trains runs approximately 8 minutes apart but that's North and South so at times there can be up to 6-7 trains within in that 8 minutes Trouble is they are all classes 222/221/220/158/66 You occasionally get the odd 150/2 & 153
