Dual gauge ride
I know that normally you want us to upload to Railwayforum.tv but this clip I uploaded on youtube as it is much better in HD than in the low quality here.
The video was filmed today on railbus YP 888 and shows the Västervik-Jenny part of the narrow gauge railway Västervik-Hultsfred-Virserum-Åseda. This part of the line is well known for the dual gauge line as the Linköping-Västervik is standard gauge. The link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za7LwJmTD4g And now, what signals and signs you will se along the line and what they mean: Main dwarf signal "Vk 34" showing "Caution, 40" (meaning that the maximum permitted speed is 40 km/h) and another one (Vk 32) showing "Stop" Road crossing signal showing "Pass" Speed board (different speeds) Orientation board with text "Tjsk" meaning that the Tjustskolan halt is ahead. Main signal Vk 38 showing "Clear" Orientation board with "V" meaning "Road crossing signal ahead" Distant road crossing signal showing "Expect Pass" The oncoming roadcrossing secured. Orientation board with numbers meaning that an speed restriction is ahead. Fictitious distant signal (signal aspect will be shown only on the ATC-panel) Double head distant signal Vk 82s/n showing "Expect clear 30" for narrow gauge and "Expect stop" for standard gauge. Whistle board with "V" meaning that the driver should signal with the horn at the board and then again at a point between the board and the road. Double head signal showing "Caution 30" for narrow gauge and "Stop" for standard gauge. after that the train enters the narrow gauge yard and continues south. On this part you will se: Control signal Vk K02 showing "Stop" and under it "Signal point board"Vk 42 on the standard gauge Exit signal Vk72 showing "Clear" on the narrow gauge. A "System M" board on the narrow gauge and a "System R" board on the standard gauge. Hope you enjoy the movie and the information for it
