Ecclesbourne Valley Diesel Weekend 29-30 September: Type 2 & 3 haulage to Wirksworth

Fun with a twist with resident diesel locomotives 31414 and 33035 and at least one heritage DMU on this forthcoming diesel weekend.

Expect topped-and-tailed services, loco changes at Duffield and even a double-headed last train! We are even offering ‘Driver for a Fiver’ opportunities at Wirksworth with Rolls-Royce Steelman locomotive L.J.Breeze.

A great weekend for all the family and remember that Wirksworth and Duffield are great destinations in their own right with the Pullman Buffet at Wirksworth and a host of interesting pubs shops and places to visit at both destinations.

Provisional Roster:

Saturday:

Double headed first train to Duffield with 33 & 31. One will stay at Duffield and they will then alternate, changing at Duffield. Last train to Wirksworth will be double headed.

Iris on the incline.

Sunday:

33 on Duffield Service. 31 on Incline.

Cab rides on "Breeze" both days at Wirksworth.

Sadly D8001 is still at Washwood Heath and probably will not be back in service this year.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Here is the poster for this weekend's fun and games:

Don't forget that the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway also goes 'somewhere', namely Wirksworth, a great town with plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat. Well worth a visit in its own right!

Sounds like a fun weekend. Unfortunately we have a wedding to attend this weekend, so I shall have to give this a miss. Hope you all have fun and have a great successful weekend. I look forward to any pictures in the gallery!
Looks like good weather for you too.
Cheers
Phil
