Lightbulb New Blackfriars station - World's Largest Solar Bridge

The new Blackfriars station, which is being built on a bridge spanning the River Thames, is on its way to becoming the world's largest solar bridge. I used to travel through the London Blackfriars station every day about 10 years ago and I always wondered how beautifully it can be redesigned as it spans across the river Thames. It always had the potential to be a major London attraction.

Glad to see its redevelopment finally coming to an end.

What are the latest site developments? Have they finished the work on Thameslink platforms yet?

Hi JMS and welcome to the forum.
It looks very impressive and the fact it will also harvest rainwater is good too! Thanks for the link. Hope you enjoy the company on this forum.
All the best

It's nearly there. I used to be based at the Drivers Depot at BF but left before station rebuilding started. It's great to see it being modernised. The old place really was a dreadful rustbucket. There was a big 'pan' underneath the old platform deck which caught the rainwater but it never drained away fully. In Summer the stink of the stagnant water was overpowering sometimes.

Here's a piccy of the old place
