a question
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum and taking a chance that someone can give me an answer or perhaps direct me to where I can find some answers. I'm doing research for a short story that takes place in 1946-47. If someone wanted to go by train from New York City to San Francisco during that time - - would they leave from Penn Station or Grand Central? - how long would the trip take? - would the train they took have a name? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you. Sincerely, Robert |

Hi & welcome
As this is an English/British based forum, would your question be better asked on an American railway forum ?

A very good point - I'm trying US groups also and haven't had any results yet.

Hello Robert and welcome to the Railway Forum. Although there are more British members on this site than any others, it is a world forum with members from just about every country. We have a number of American members and hopefully one of them could come up with the information you require. Not all members are ex-railway men or women, they just have an interest in some part of the railway system. We have some very young members and some, like me, older members, both male and female. Because of the younger members, all we ask that anyone posting reframes from swearing, otherwise all are welcome.
