The East Lancashire Railway's popular steam weekends make a welcome return in the form of the Winter Steam Gala.

Please note that due to the cancellation of the visit of BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212 due to the locomotive failing over the Christmas period at its home railway, ticket prices have now been reduced from Band A to Band B fares, saving over 10% in most places. If you have purchased tickets to the Winter Steam Gala in advance, please contact our Booking Office on 0161 764 7790, who will be happy to refund you the difference in ticket prices.
NEW FOR 2015 will be the operation of some trains to the Hopwood Ground Frame (the limit of ELR operation) beyond Heywood station. This is an exciting chance for some people to see a part of the line that is not normally accessible by timetabled trains. |

A new guest loco has been announced - GWR 56XX Class No 5643, which is presumably heading back to the Furness Rly Trust at Preston after its long stint in the south.
The ticket prices are to remain at the reduced rate despite the addition of the guest. It certainly looks an interesting line up, and with some locos facing south a bit more interest as far as I'm concerned
