Deltics & 'Calbourne' at the Bluebell in 2015
The Bluebell Railway & the Deltic Preservation Society has announced that 'Deltics' Nos.D9009 'Alycidon' & 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' are to visit the Bluebell for their Diesel Gala on 18th/19th April 2015.
http://thedps.co.uk/category/news/ Also, in the latest issue of Railway Magazine, LSWR O2 No.W24 'Calbourne' is expected to visit the Bluebell from the Isle of Wight in November. It will line up alongside the Bluebell's out of traffic LSWR locos - 0415 class ('Adams Radial') No.488 & B4 class No.96 'Normandy'. Another 'appropriate' loco may also visit the Bluebell to join the LSWR gathering. Tony |

Yes, I was thinking that it might be 30120! Otherwise I'd like the Beattie Well Tank No.30585, as I've not seen this one in steam either.

Sounds like a plan. I do need to visit this line as I have never been before and that sounds very tempting
Cheers Phil

I'll try to keep you updated with what's going on at the Bluebell Phil.
In addition, two locos should be returning to steam in the first half of this year: SR Q class 0-6-0, to run as BR No.30541 for the first time in preservation (for 1 year only) and BR 5MT No.73082 'Camelot'. Tony Last edited by TRP; 15th January 2015 at 22:18. |

And talking of Bluebell locos, U class no.1638 is now into the final 12 months of its boiler certificate. If anything major goes wrong with it this year it will be withdrawn. Enjoy it while you can!
Maunsell Locomotive Society members are hoping to be able see three of their engines (U, Q and S15) in traffic together in a few months' time, but it will be touch and go. |

Are you able to visit the sheds and see the locomotives in and around the site?
I am looking to visit this year and would love to see whats there. Cheers Phil

You sure are, Phil; the running shed is completely open to the public. Most of the yard is clearly visible as well, but unfortunately you can no longer wander round at will – access had to be restricted after an incident a few years back. You can also see into the workshop as long as the front doors are open; they usually are at weekends.
There's only one shed now, since the old original "top shed" was demolished last year. |

According to this month's Railway Magazine, 'Calbourne' won't be visiting the Bluebell this year, but should make the trip sometime in 2016.
However, 70000 'Britannia' is expected to be the star guest at this year's 'Giants of Steam' on Oct 31st/Nov 1st, with one more guest loco to be confirmed - expected to be another BR Standard. Tony |
