Experts wanted – to identify L.S.C. lamps

Please see attached photo:

Matching left/right copper lamps with brass inserts, 9.5 inches/24cm in height, weighing 4.5 lbs/almost 5kg each.

Any opinions or advice as to use or what L.S.C. stands for gratefully appreciated.

I am not sure they are railway lamps. LSC might be a council maybe?

Thank you for your reply, which is certainly food for thought and a possible avenue for further investigation.

One would have expected a ‘R’ at the end to denote Railway. Although there were several Canal Companies who operated railways, and of course not forgetting, which in its time was the worlds largest transport organisation - (L.M.S) omitted the R.

However I will peruse the ‘C’ standing for Council/ Company.
