Drivers daughter

Hello everyone, I have joined this group as I am looking for some ideas on what to do with the masses and masses of 'stuff' that I have found in the attic of my recently deceased father. It is all British Rail and LNER from his and my maternal grandfather's time on the railway. It includes a huge amount of new uniform (approx. three crates), lamps, hats, training manuals and even Dad's big leather bag. Suggestions would be most welcome

I'm sure a heritage railway would love to have these, your closest to Chislehurst is probably the Spa Valley Railway at Tunbridge Wells; the Bluebell Railway at East Grinstead or Kent & East Sussex Railway at Tenterden are not too far away either. Even if they don't want or need the items themselves, they may be able to point you in another direction, so I would suggest that making contact with any of these might be a good start.
I would also think that the items are probably very sellable on ebay etc. if that's what you would prefer.

Regards,
Tony

All the items you mention are of value to different sections of the railway community, some of them very much so. Please don't be tempted to just dump them in order to get rid of them! If you don't want the bother of advertising I'm sure any heritage railway would be more than happy to take the whole lot off your hands. Let us know how you get on.

Our condolences on the loss of your father.

drivers daughter update

I have been in touch with a couple of heritage railway groups and plan to rehome it with one them in a couple of days. Dad would have been delighted

That's great to hear that it's all going to a good home.

Tony
