I heard that the train was left on the main line; the crew set the brakes, and went for crew rest at a hotel...within an hour or two, the train started rolling. The CEO of the rail company blamed the crew for not setting enough brakes, but the police said it also might have been caused by vandalism (someone releasing the brakes). Has anyone heard anything further? Sam

Just discovered this thread about the MMA Lac Megantic prang. Very tragic. The CTSB report makes for interesting reading. http://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-re...4/r13d0054.asp We no longer cart petroleum by rail here in NSW. Our tank cars were very similar to those involved in the MMA prang. Steve. |
