Thanks for that Philip.

Recycled 321s, huh? Nice to see the old Dusty Bins get a 2nd lease of life. I used to enjoy driving them.

My eye was grabbed by the yellow cages in the photograph. I had a head scratch about what they could be for, and then it came to me, because of their positions in the carriage. Underneath both of them are grey boxes. In the 321 'passenger days' these boxes would have had seats over the top of them, so the passengers wouldn't have noticed them.

They contain some very important equipment, though I'm not going to say what's in them on a public forum.

Cheers, John

More "new" wagons using recycled components, made in the UK.

WH Davis has outshopped the first 46 ‘megaboxes’ for their railway leasing customer Beacon Rail. The 75 cubic-meter capacity wagon is finished with GB Railfreight livery. The 75 cubic-metre capacity open wagons use recovered and overhauled components, including bogies, brakes and drawgear from redundant HHA coal hopper wagons.
