6MB4 goes bush on Bethungra

G'day,
Our hard working ATSB mob have released a statement about the derailment of northbound 6MB4 on saturday.
From the images that I had been sent, the prang appeared to entail numerous wagons.
But, the ATSB statement details that three wagons were involved.
Regardless, it is a MESS.

Bethungra spiral is between Junee and Cootamundra on the Main South in NSW.
The Down Main plummets down the 1 in 40 grade.
To ease the gradient for UP trains, the spiral deviation was built affording a 1 in 70 grade for the UP.
The images showing the gone bush caper occurring within one of the curved cuttings.
Yes, UP trains can be operated via the DOWN, using paperwork due to being a wrong road movement.
And, for any long period, Pilot Staff working implemented.
Steve.
