Didn`t take long to dry out though, just climb on the nearest prepared engine, and dry off in front of the fire. I don`t think the H&S executive would be too impressed by what went on these days! Regards Mike.

They used to leave a smouldering cloth in the shanty to make everyone go back to work quite often. As engine cleaners we would hide from the foreman playing cards in the firebox.
