My latest monoblock amps (single mono) are built on two bits of 18mm plywood (we call it breadboarding) and I can just manage to comfortably lift each one.
It's all the "iron" (transformers etc) that does it !! Most of my other amps are lightweight by comparison.

My Fender Twin Reverb lives on the floor nowadays; I reckon if I attempted to put it somewhere higher up I'd either throw m back out, or develop an immediate hernia! It was far too heavy when I got it secondhand in 1974, and I was reasonably fit then. I moved to a flat in Southsea in 1980, it was up five flights of stairs. Uuurgh. Since I'd got six guitars at the time as well, I came to an arrangement with the local pub landlord - I could keep all the gear in the large pub kitchen free of charge, providing that we could occasionally jam in the pub during afternoon closing hours. Suited me fine!

Back in the late 60s i bought first secondhand Marshall head amp and a 4x12''cabinet from Plymouth i only had a three wheel van at the time a bit like Del boy only mine was blue.
We used to do gigs in Truro Newquay Penzance St Austell i used to take as much in the van and the drummer used to take what he could in his ford anglia van plus singer and bass player quite a squeeze. How the two vans lasted i do not know. ccmmick.

The first band I was in (never got paid for playing anwhere), the drummer was the only of the four of us with transport, and we had to ferry all our gear (not much of it, thankfully) around in his AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE!!!!

We had to do it in bits; luckily we only played VERY locally, so it didn't take too long, but his drum kit went first, then the bass & guitar stuff (the singer didn't have any gear!), then he'd take the bassist & singer, then pick up his girlfriend, and me & my girlfriend, so there'd be FOUR of us in a 2-seater. It was a bit of a hoot!
