A fourth (possibly not the last) visiting locomotive has been added to the roster for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's Cotswold Festival of Steam (12-14 May), with the announcement that BR 2MT 2-6-0 No.78019 will be visiting from the Great Central Railway. The 'Standard 2' is expected to stay on at Toddington for a period of hire after the gala.

New event at K&ESR:
The K&ESR will be holding a Steam Up event over the Bank Holiday weekend 27th-29th May which will see trains running over the rarely used Bodiam-Junction Road section and Rolvenden MPD & Tenterden C&W workshops will be open to the public. Locos in use will include visiting 'Battle of Britain' pacific No.34072 '257 Squadron' & BR class 33/2 No.33202 'Dennis G Robinson' and, from the home fleet, Hunslet 0-6-0ST No.15 'Hastings' & the class 108 DMU. Not listed as operating, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the 3 operational Hunslet 'Austerities' will also be in action - visiting No.WD132 'Sapper', No.75008 'Swiftsure' or resident No.25 'Northiam'. Peckett 0-4-0T No.12 'Marcia' will be on 'Driver for a Tenner' duties at Tenterden. https://kesr.org.uk/steam-up/ Tony Last edited by TRP; 6th April 2023 at 21:31. |

Second visiting steam loco for the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway's Steam & Diesel gala (13/14 May) will be Bassett-Lowke 4-4-2 'Count Louis', making it's first visit to New Romney over 40 years ago. The 15" gauge 'Atlantic' was built in 1924 for RH&DR co-founder Count Louis Zborowski.

Due to delays with the overhaul of 60163 'Tornado', the new-build A1 will not be ready for the planned 'Tornado Steams In' event at the North Norfolk Railway, 27th May - 4th June. The NNR are working on plans for a possible replacement event.

BR class 50 No.50021 'Rodney' could be visiting the Swanage Railway for their Spring Diesel Gala (12-14 May), if repairs and testing can be completed. If 'Rodney' is not ready in time, then it's planned duties at the gala will be taken by classmate No.50026 'Indomitable', which is currently at Swanage.
