Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'd like to start a lil conversation by asking a question, how far you've travel by train?

Saturday just gone I took a day trip from Liverpool to Glasgow. As the crow flies it's about 175 miles each way, or about 350 miles for the round trip. But because the route isn't a straight line it's more like 220 miles each way or about 440 miles round trip. That's probably about the most I would typically travel in a single day. My total for this year so far is something like a quite modest 2,000 miles. Typically though I will travel much shorter journeys. For example if I take the train into North Wales (which is local from here) to go hiking it's typically 15 to 25 miles depending on where exactly I'm going. If I choose to take the train to work, under the river Mersey I think it's only about three miles so very short journey indeed (only on the train about 9 minutes), so in fact I usually get the bus. Would eventually love to take on some epic train journey like London-Shanghai or something, but alas it's just not possible for me to get away at the moment |

Hello Carmel. The longest single train trip I dod was from Ndola in Zambia to Cape Town. It took 4 nights and 3 1/2 days. " weeks later I travelled to East London in S Africa, then a week later I returned to Ndola via J'burg. Another 4 nights and 3 days.
