Steaming New One ... !
Hi friends
... just enroled ! Great you exist ! Wonder whether you could help me ? I got the chance to deliver a speech on railway, specifically on railway cargo on the topic "business turnaround" ! The audience is cargo - managers and myself I have done several company turnaround - just never on transport ! I love doing this, since I love railways ... you remember the young boy, seeing the first "Märklin Model Train" next to the x-mas tree ! ! ! Well that is me ! Anyhow, what I want to tell them: 1. Railway Cargo is protecting our nature 2. It is fast, efficient and traffic jam independent 3. Say this loud and you have the public behind you 4. If you need to dismiss staff, do it carefully and accompany them ... ! Now guys: If you have additional thoughts, or photos that you think could help me to improve my presentation ... go, shoot, brief me ! Look forward to hear from you Werner [email protected] I have added my favourite rail picture: The Rigi-cogwheel rail ! |

Hello Werner and welcome to the forum.
We do have some professional railwaymen amongst our members but we are mostly enthusiasts with a love of railways. With our poor record I find it hard to imagine that anyone in the UK can help you to promote the transport of cargo by rail in Switzerland. Having seen first-hand what SBB Cargo, BLS Cargo and the other private operators are doing in Switzerland it would appear that the Swiss people are already convinced of the benefits of rail cargo. Perhaps one of our Worldwide members might be able to offer some further suggestions.

Hi and welcome.
I dont think that British people think at all about trade or freight. They complain about heavy lorries, and traffic jams, but do not realise that our whole economy is based on Trade, and therefore on movement of large amounts of feight. So railway cargo has no meaning to most people. One idea for you is that a very well known lorry company in the UK called Eddie Stobart has just started a rail freight company. I think there are some pictures in this forum's gallary, and there should be some on the web. Good luck with your presentation |

Quote:
HUPAC, the Swiss intermodal operator is currently celebrating its 40th birthday and was founded before Eddie Stobart had even entered the road transport industry. 72% of HUPAC's shares are held by road hauliers and it collaborates with various Swiss and other European rail operators. It owns 4425 wagons, 13 locomotives and operates about 100 trains per day in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Holland and Denmark. HUPAC's trains convey containers, swap bodies, semi-trailers and complete lorries.
