Rail passengers trapped overnight (BBC News)

Passengers are to be compensated after a train took seven hours instead of two to travel from London to Norwich.

Not the first time this sort of thing has happened. The train operators should be made to realise that this sort of thing is totally unacceptable in 2009. Apologising after the event is no answer - it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Breakdowns, problems on the line etc are always likely to happen so it is up to those in charge to have contingency arrangements in place so that when they do, passengers are not treated with such total contempt. Heads should roll.
