Hello!
Hello everyone! This is my first post - I'm interested in learning more about Spanish and French railways - particularly those like the single gauge railways running from Denia to Alicante. I believe the line is being renovated - does anyone have an update on progress?

Hello Catherine, Welcome to the forum.
There was a piece in the local paper about the railway up the coast from Alicante. The section from Alicante to Benidorm has been upgraded and has new trams/trains. The section from Benidorm to Gatos del Gordos is used in Summer by the "Lemon Express", a very popular, once a day tourist train which is diesel hauled by a Class 20 (?). The line from Gatos del Gordos to Denia is currently the subject of a lot of discussion because of the state of the infrastructure which needs a lot of renovation. There is very little traffic on this section but it would be a shame to lose it. P.s. The whole line is metre gauge. Last edited by Tony; 17th January 2016 at 19:15. |
