Rail electrification past point of no return

KiwiRail have signed the contract for rail electrification in Auckland, alongside Steven "we're committed to road and rail projects like the motorways" Joyce opening the new Newmarket station. 80km of wires and 3,500 masts will be installed.

I know my views aren't shared by everyone but I'm all in favour of electrification. It certainly sounds like your government are serious about this project.
Please keep us posted with news of the progress. I for one appreciate your posts and photos from NZ.
