Happy New Year from Frankfurt/Main
Hi everyone,
My name is Alan Lathan and I live in Frankfurt, the one on the Main River, not the Oder! I've been here since 1965 and have been trainspotting over the past 3-4 years. Previous to that I was involved in aviation. As a schoolboy my train world revolved around Fleet, Basingstoke, Reading and London. I'm still a layman as far as photography is concerned, but with my new Nikon D5000 I hope it will improve. I usually find myself in Drehscheibe-online where I am known as Suedschau. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that all your endeavours meet with success. Best wishes, Alan |

Hi Alan, welcome & Happy New Year. Oddly enough, when I was just a kid, I discovered trains when the family lived in Tilehurst (Reading); we moved around 1957/58 to a small village called Hartley Wintney, which is quite near Fleet. Sadly, it wasn't near the railway, and the closest I got to seeing trains when I lived there was a boy in my class who's father was the stationmaster at Winchfield! Klein Weld!

Hello Alan and welcome to the Railway Forum. I to was mad on trains from an early age. Spent many a happy hour down at the sheds in Bulawayo in Rhodesia. I was only 4 at the time.
