Hello.

Hi to all gricers and railway modellers worldwide just found this site .
My father used to take me on the train from Blackburn to Wilpshire when I was very small the Blackburn to Hellifield line shut down in 1962 and I was on the last train from Hellifield on that day.The line re-opened nearly 30 years later and there is a regular Clitheroe to Manchester service but not to Hellifield as yet, only the Sunday Dales rail service in Summer.I later travelled on trains in Germany/Austria/Czechoslavakia/Brazil /Argentina South Africa and Japan
I still like to see trains on my local line when the CME and the Fellsman run and will never tire of watching them!

Hello Brian and a very warm welcome to our forum from all the Staff. I think I know you because I go to Hellifield and the Blackburn area a lot to photograph the steam charters when they run. Fell free to post some shots to the gallery, enjoy and all the best.

P.S. I moved your post to this thread for you because you will get more replies here.

Welcome to the forum Brian - that's a couple of nice photos too. 76080 was 'one that got away' as it went to Barry Scrapyard, in South Wales, but was one of the few steam locos scrapped there (in 1972).
Look forward to more posts & photos.

Tony

Hello wilpshirebrian (Brian) and welcome to the Railway Forum. It's a long time since I travelled on a train in South Africa, although I did get a footplate ride on a S.A. Class 19D a few years ago. This was at the Saiccor factory which had the only 3 full time working steam loco's in S.A at the time. They too have now been retired.
