Class 66

I have recently taken a photograph of Class 66 at Rugeley Trent Valley. It is a little further away than I wanted, but when I zoom in, the number is blurred. The number looks like 66642.Does anybody know if this number could be correct. It is in the old EWS livery.

Locoman 4244

The 66's in old EWS livery were 66001 to 66250 Locoman. The 666xx series are in Freightliner colours and only go up to 66625.

Regards, 62440. ( That's a steam loco)

Had a couple of 66's bring in a charter train onto the ELR yesterday afternoon. Pity the passengers had to put up with some typical Pennine weather

Talking of 66's i recently visited Leicester and was very surprised to see a 66 poking out the maintenance shed ! I thought the whole depot was derelict and awaiting redevelopment.

On closer inspection the vegatation which had totally covered the tracks leading to the shed has been removed.

Inside the shed are in fact 2 x 66's 66707, 66724

Is there anyone in the know who could enlighten me please ?

Thanks for the reply im not sure whether the depot will be used as a stabling point for refueling ect or whether they will just use the maintanance facilities or both. Or are they just being stored there just for the short term ?

Who knows ? It would be nice to have locos back at Leicester again on a more permanent basis.
