Question UK Sleeper to Inverness

The Caledonian sleeper arrived at Inverness yesterday double headed, The train loco a class67 the pilot engine a class 90. Presumably driven from the 90 but why so far from the 25kv supply?

I doubt very much that a Class 67 can be controlled from an unpowered Class 90 but I am more than happy to be proven wrong. Did anyone take a photo of this event?

I thought they had some class 73 electro diesels fitted with uprated diesel engines ?
