Lucky you to live so close to a railway.
I wouldn't hold your breath though. This Government don't seem to want to put money into the rail system. All they are interested in is the concrete jungle that is slowly throttling this green and pleasant land. |

Dead
As much as the freight infrastructure needs it, it isnt going to happen, Britain needs deadicated freight routes, the passenger boys have the high speed routes, but they dont want slow old freight on them...holding them up.
One day we'll get a Governrment that will see the light.... One day Ill be a millionaire.....i.e, neither of these will ever happen...lol |

Ringo,
You could win the lottery tonight and become a millionaire and there might be a Secretary Of State at the DfT that cares about freight on the railways! Look! There's a pig flying past!! |

No dedicated freight lines are likely to be built in the UK. The Netherlands have the Beteuweroute opening next year. What is the status of the Belgian plans for an "Iron Rhine" John B. |

Belgium wants to reopen the "Iron Rhein", it is the shortest route from
the port of Antwerp to the Rhur area, but the Iron Rhein runs trough a part of the Netherlands and they are against opening because they want to favourite the port of Rotterdam. Until now it is uncertain when the line will reopen. |
