2nd Deltic gala at Bluebell

Having branched out into diesel galas for the last few years, the Bluebell is to host a very special diesel gala in October.
The Deltic Preservation Society is celebrating it's 40th anniversary with a 'Deltic only' event at the Bluebell on 6-8 October 2017, featuring all three of their class 55s; Nos.D9009 'Alycidon', 55015 'Tulyar' & 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier', PLUS the NRM's D9002 'King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' all in operation. Also in the planning is a 'surprise visitor' (not yet confirmed) - I suspect this may be the prototype 'Deltic' on static display, as this is to be, as mentioned earlier, a 'Deltic only' event featuring 4 operational 'Deltics'.
This will be a second 'Deltic' event at the Bluebell, following the visit of D9009 & 55019 in April 2015.

This event is in addition to the Bluebell's 'regular' diesel gala, which will be on March 31-April 2nd, with 2 visiting class 50s Nos.50035 'Ark Royal' & 50049 'Defiance'. The resident class 09 No.09018 should be in action, and they are hoping to bring in another visiting loco, possibly a class 31.

It's part of the National Collection and so is usually at either at the NRM at York or Shildon, but has made some visits elsewhere - one recent visit was to the Ribble Railway at Preston.

It is now confirmed that the NRM's pioneer class 37 No.D6700 will be joining the class 50s for the March 31-April 2 diesel gala.

Line up for the Bluebell's Diesel gala has changed again - D6700 had already been ruled out and now 50035 is now unavailable due to brake problems. So, it's now 50049, 20189, 20205 (brought in to cover for the 37), 09018, the Bluebell's sentinel shunter and now 73107 & 73119 from GBRf have been made available at short notice to cover for 50035. The 20s & the 73s will run in pairs during the gala.
