I suppose I'm one of the silver surfers being old enough to remember Midland compounds on the 2hr London trains and still enjoying Clan Line every few days here in the SE.

Hello Walter and welcome to the Railway Forum. I am also a silver surfers although I still have a year to go before I retire. I never saw steam on main line duty as I came to the UK too late.
