Sorry, but as sad as this case is, WHY do people always seem to praise somebody After they have either died, or been killed as in this case?

As for saving a pet, we all react differently, but I would Not risk my life to save any of my pets, as Much as I Love them, and I have 4 different types, including a dog.

I think people have got to keep their dogs on a lead and under control near railways.

Yesterday we were working on the track near one of the foot crossing just north of Duffield on The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. A lady came across the line with her dog off the lead and it came to us to be fussed. We didn't touch it as we did not want to encourage it to run along the line.

One of the problems reopening a line that has been out of use is that we have to educate the public, who have got into the habbit of using the line as a footpath, that it is now an opperational railway running seven days per week. All the foot crossing have been repaired and new warning notice posted. However we still "surprise" people walking along the track when we are running trains.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
