Despite being more of a diesel enthusiast, I might just go to that. Will be good to see the A4s in steam.

I'm planning on going, been thinking about it for a week or so, I really want to get some photos of the Crab. In my spotting days when there were plenty of them about on the Midland they were one of my least favorite locos and if someone said at that time in years to come you'll drive 80 miles to see one I'd have said they were talking rubbish, I can't wait to see her now, it will worth the journey.

Which is the best station for getting good pictures on the E.L.R? I've not been before so I'm really looking forward to this Saturday.

Irwell Vale. You get a long shot on a bend on the approach to the station. The train slows to a halt at the station.Cross the line and join the many there at this great location. Sadly I won't be as I'm in Cheltenham, but I've seen that 60019 Bittern passes there at 1847hrs.So that will be three steaks in a week.

I have to agree with Stuart, Irwell Vale is the place to go or Burrs Country Park.

All locos now at the Lancs and all facing towards Rawtenstall. The Jinty has had a makeover but is restricted to only operate at Bury.

One down side for anybody travelling by public transport from Manchester is that there are no trams this weekend on the Bury line, replacement buses instead.

Enjoy the event.

Cheers John
