Kasane - Just Joined
Born in England, spent my youth with the Norwich - Ely main line behind the house and able to run the length of the garden to get an unusual diesel by the sound of the horn.
Spent the early 80s in South Africa, spending many hours hanging around the Kasane depot in SE Johannesburg, all steam at that time. Now living in Western Canada and worked for 10 years with Canadian Pacific - the rail business is fascinating. |

Welcome to the forum Kasane; you've had a very directional series of major moves - East Anglia, South Africa, Western Canada - where next, North Borneo or Northern Ireland? Then you could be Kasane 360, having done E,S,W & N, in that order!

Hello Kasane and welcome to the Railway Forum. I don't know Johannesburg very well but I do know Cape Town. My Mother was born there. My Father was from PE.

In answer to Dave's question, I think I have one move left.... if only as a 'Snowbird' to get away from the long very cold winter's here in Alberta.
Probably, somewhere high in the Sri Lankan highlands - in Uva Province somewhere near the end of the narrow guage railway to Badulla. Why? I am tea buyer for my shop and I look forward to the visits. Ted |
