Train crashes into overpass in Turkish capital-7 dead
ANKARA, Turkey – A high-speed train hit a railway engine and crashed into a pedestrian overpass at a station in the Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday, killing seven people and injuring 46 others, officials and news reports said.
The 6:30 a.m. train from Ankara to the central Turkish city of Konya first collided with the engine that was checking the tracks at the capital city's small Marsandiz station, Ankara Gov. Vasip Sahin told reporters at the scene. The high-speed train transits that station without stopping. Full story at Fox News

Thanks for that.
Interesting, since as we all know, Interlocking should prevent a train from being signalled into an occupied section. I can think of 2 possibilities, but as i know we don't like speculation here, I shall keep them to myself. BW. |

The last news I saw, the toll had climbed to 9. The front coaches of the train and bridge were really mangled, they must have been going quite fast. THe rear coaches seem to have suffered only minor damage. The front coached must have absorbed the impact.
