Hello Yorktown,

I am very interested by the fact that a metro is being constructed in Algiers. When I worked there in 1979/80 there wasn't even a decent bus service!
Why isn't the line going to the airport at Dar El Beida instead of stopping at Bab Ezzouar? The flats in Bab Ezzouar were being built when I worked at the airport.

Hello tony, the project does not go to the airport for the moment, Governments have preferred that this connection will be made with a conveyance with a higher capacity (RER)

Indeed, a tender has been launched to connect the Airport to RER station at Bab Ezzouar who already exists (1.3 km from the airport) the RER starts in Algiers Centre and extends to Tizi Ouzou (Kabylie)

Here the map of current urban transport in Algiers without bus (RER-Metro-Tramway)
